First Time Snake Owner Advice

General Question / Discussion

Hi there!

I got some questions as a wanna be first time snake owner, so i give my Future noodle the best care possible.

My current eyes are on a Black Milk snake (L. T. Gaigae) youngling, although they are hard to get where i live in south West Germany (if anyone knows breeders pls lmk)

Side note: i love a yellow tailed criboa aswell but i heard they are not good for first time owners, since i want a one

  1. Can i get a full size tank for the Baby already? Im planning to go quite big (2mx1mx1m) or something like that. Could go more in height but i heard they dont climb a lot, they burrow.

  2. How are the handling times (duration)? I know the General wait times, but i possibly want to take her out for a walk outside or keep her out while gaming or watching a movie. I dont want her to get cold, too stressed or handle her for too long so she gets uncomfortable/feels unwell

  3. How much does the age of the snake matter? Does it change a lot if she is 3 months or 1 year?

  4. I could not find good advice about the Temperature, everyone says something different? I heard between 28-32 for the Heat Spot?

Any General advice is also appreciated! Thank yall Inn advance for any help :)
