I don’t feel supported

Hi. I’m Salem. I’m 20 and I am genderfluid. I use he/they for the older people who don’t exactly get it but prefer Ze/Zir.

I am AFAB so a lot of people divert to she/her and maam. That doesn’t inherently bother me. What does bother me is the fact that my family knows and doesn’t use the correct pronouns or name. My husbands family is a little better about it. They know my legal name but use my chosen name however they use she/her and it pisses me off.

I’ve explained to my family everything. They say because it took me forever to pick an identity that I’m really just a lesbian. Salem is a tester name because after 3 months I usually hate my name. But yea.

My husband is great. Uses my chosen name but his excuse is it is easier to use the ones his family are using then the ones i actually use so he doesn’t slip up.

I just want to feel respected. That’s all.
