Do artist draw reference from the exact angle or do they just draw the forms and adapt to the angle they drew?

Like if a cube were to position in a certain way in the reference, do artist copy that exact angle or do they just see a cube, draw a cube, then adapt to that angle they drew to make the rest of the image?
