Breaking in to smash eggs?
Weirdest thing I’ve ever had to post on Reddit but my apartment (The Summit) was broken into today. Nothing was stolen, but there was a carton of eggs on my counter with several broken eggs and eggshells on the counter and floor.
I did not own eggs. I almost never buy them at all because I don’t finish them before they go bad. This carton was probably half full with a couple uncracked eggs, a couple eggs that were smashed on my counter and floor, and then clearly old eggshells with no innards.
I don’t have roommates. It’s move in weekend but I triple checked that I wasn’t getting any roommates. Only myself and the office/maintenance have the keys. Plausible it could’ve been them I suppose but it’s so odd and even the office looked at me crazy when I said I needed the locks changed because someone broke in and threw eggs I did not own in my kitchen.
This seems so silly but is this some kind of prank?? Breaking and entering just to throw eggs??? None of my “enemies” have my address and I was with the only 2 people who knew I wasn’t home.
I’m about half shaken up. It would be worse if things were stolen or if there was clear evidence that they broke the lock but… nothing was stolen. I locked my door before I left and had to unlock it 2 1/2 hours later when I got back. The only evidence of the break in was the appearance of a half full carton of eggs, some of which were smashed around.
Listen, I know “Athens happens” but maybe breaking in to smash eggs isn’t so much Athens happening as it is assholery happening.
