Being a curvy girl as a teenager is genuinely exhausting
I genuinely feel like nobody talks about how hard it can be to be a curvy/thick girl while ur still a teenager
Clothes are already annoying enough bc everything seems to fit me differently. Something can fit perfectly around my waist but be ridiculously tight around my chest or thighs. Pants can fit everywhere except my hips. Shirts can be completely normal on someone else but suddenly look “too revealing” on me simply because I have a bigger chest
And then there are family outings. Every time I go somewhere with my family there seems to be this weird concern over whether what I’m wearing is “appropriate.” Someone has to look at my outfit, tell me something is too tight, too short, or too revealing, or make sure I’m “covered enough”
And the excuse I constantly hear is that “old men are gonna look at u.” Okay… but how is that MY problem ??
I’m not choosing what body I have. I’m not intentionally trying to attract attention. I’m literally just existing in the body I have and trying to wear clothes that fit me.
And the fact that the “old people” they’re worried about are sometimes members of MY OWN FAMILY makes it even more uncomfortable. Why am I the one who has to change my clothes because another person might look at me inappropriately ??
I’m literally 15. I should be able to wear a normal tank top or a pair of shorts without everyone acting like I’m responsible for how other people perceive my body
Having a bigger chest, wider hips, thicker thighs, or a bigger butt doesn’t automatically make an outfit inappropriate. Sometimes clothes just fit differently on different bodies.
I js wish people would stop treating my body like something I need to apologize for or constantly hide. I’m a teenager. I’m just trying to get dressed and go outside without having my body turned into a whole discussion every single time.
