Shimoda roller v2

I’m curious if anyone has traveled with this bag. I am a 1 or 1.5 bagger. My usual roller bag is an Away carry on (the smaller one). But honestly, I don’t really like it. I don’t like the clamshell, I don’t like the dividers. It’s fine, but it’s not a pleasure to use. No hate, just not for me, not my style. Works great.

I am thinking about swapping it out with a shimoda roller v2. But I’m not sure if I’m just wanting to change for change.

The shimoda looks better. I like the opening more. It fits my camera gear if needed. But, it can’t be checked with anything breakable (it’s a soft bag) and it’s smaller (but also less likely to be gate checked…). It looks easy to open to steal stuff. I don’t like the side pockets much. But I suppose I could pack less….

it seems the main advantage is rolling it to a shoot, and opening it for work. Which I don’t do.

My away luggage already struggles if I need to travel with a suit or an extra pair of shoes. But that’s pretty rare.

Any advice?

Capacity for special occasions is not an issue. I pack an extra bag for snowboarding. Or if traveling and I really need space I could check my pelican 1535 and carry on the shimoda, or use a back pack. I might have to do that a little more often, but as it stands now I’ve never had to check a bag unless snowboarding.
