Disabled Windows updates, I cant remember how I did it but now I need to reverse it

I was pissed at Windows for updating when I didnt ask and integrating stupid things into my experience I didnt ask for so I scoured the internet in search of a way to unofficially disable its ability to update. Its been a few years later and now Im having issues such as my system thinking I need to ******** Windows. The PC always thinks im disconnected from the internet so I cant search for updates.
