So much litter??!

Why are so many people here comfortable with littering/leaving trash all over the ground? Is everyone so accustomed to it that they just don’t even notice anymore? I’m newish to town and pretty taken aback by all of the garbage that I regularly see on sidewalks and strewn about on people’s property.

This isn’t just a matter of homeless people leaving shit everywhere. So many of my neighbors leave random cans, water bottles, used food containers, etc sitting in front of their homes for days. I just don’t get it? Beyond its negative impact on the environment and the fact that it’s an eyesore, it’s just downright gross, lazy, and inconsiderate. It reeks of entitlement and is so deeply irritating.
