Why didn't ordinary people in this series ever learn a thing or two about the martial arts?

Many Hokuto and Nanto martial artists constantly spew about how their technique works and logically given the scenes the ordinary characters like thugs and goons and regular people should've heard about these. And i don't expect them to be remotely close to mastering these martial arts but shouldn't there be more people that would pass them as word of mouth and try to replicate one or two techniques that they have known?

But so far I've only like seen very few people in this series doing this. The rest still act like they are in total ignorance.
