the pain you feel after grief is unlike any other

years after it affects you on a daily basis

the kind that you didn’t expect to feel that day

when suddenly you’re looking through old photos

happy memories that seemed to have slipped from you

watching your life with them as if it were a stranger’s

and then after you won’t know what to do

after the tears and hyperventilating

there is the not quite silence of the ever moving world and the ringing in your ear

tomorrow you will get up at 6:30

and the day after

and the day after that one

until one day you remember
