Dear everybody,

My name is Aaron. For most of my teenage years I didn’t do much, partly because of growing up with very strict parents. I’ve always loved nature, but over the past year or 2 I have learned more and more about camping, mountaineering, backpacking, and the various other communities in the world of outdoors. But despite all that, I’ve never gone. In short, I was all preaching no practice.

To go camping/hiking for me would be a lot like a bird finally leaving its nest. Often I feel like whatever it is that I want, whether it's camping or going to travel, is somehow shut down and fails. Every summer, every winter break, somehow goes by and I do nothing but stay in my neighborhood, work a job, and go back to school. I don’t want to go just because I like nature; I want to go because if I did, it would prove to myself that I can actually do things I want to do, and give me that feeling inside that I did do something.

I live in the nyc area and I am currently in school, with very little disposable income to spend at all, not to mention camping/hiking gear. I have never made a gofundme before, but I really don’t have another option. Heck, I’ve never even posted on reddit before. If any of you could donate or at the very least share this link, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I know that this chat is not necessarily designed for this, but if this could stay up and not be taken down, that’d be great also. Thank you.

(picture of Mt. Marcy cuz a) it's pretty cool, b) i'd like to go there, and c) i heard putting a photo on ur post helps with views)
