currently a CCA, wondering how to get out

DISCUSSION

I have recently started as a CCA in a small town since last month. There are 6 city routes with me plus another CCA. I honestly think everyone here is nice and helpful, and yet I just don’t think this is for me long term. It’s quite irritating as I was unemployed for a year before this, so having a job is nice esp not having to think about applying for jobs anymore, but I’ll probably have to start soon again :/

I currently don’t have many days on, its been between 2-3 days a week (which has been fine as my body’s not used to it). But I can easily see the holiday time getting super crazy, and even with the over time pay, I just don’t think I’ll be able to handle it. This plus the fact I have a vacation planned (but not booked for reasons) for around christmas time. I just think its best if I leave before December :/

Sorry this is a bit wordy for something as simple as ‘just leave then’, but I am curious about if theres any ‘regular’ positions that I as a non-career can apply to. Something more akin to an office position (I do have a bachelors). I think I’m just not cut out for how laborious this job actually is, which just makes me appreciate postal workers even more. I do live near a big city with a P&DC, and I would actually have a better commute there than to where I’m currently at.

If there is no hope for me within USPS, I also am curious as to how the quitting process usually goes? Do I talk to the PM at my office? Go on liteblue and quit there? Talk to some other higher up? I am a pretty awkward person and like to have a plan that isn’t unusual or will cause unnecessary problems. I would like it to be as smooth as possible.
