Single mom no idea about hockey please help

Hi! My son starts 8U hockey next month and I have everything he needs but the stick. I’ve done some basic research but wanted opinions prior to committing to buying (did he have to pick most expensive sport ?!) we don’t live near a pro shop so I’m going to have to online order. Any help is greatly appreciated and sorry if this isn’t the right thing to post here
