What do you wish you knew when you were a fountain pen newbie?

Hello fellow fountain pen enthusiasts. I recently discovered my love for fountain pens and started my collection a few months ago. I would love to know what you would’ve loved to know when you first got into the fountain pen hobby and any must have recommendations! Unfortunately I do not have any friends who share this new love of mine so I would appreciate any insight you all are willing to share.

For context: I do own pilot kakunos and love them. I also just made a pretty big purchase to add to my collection of pens. This purchase included a Platinum Preppy, Kawekco Lunar Sport, and a Benu Tailsman (pink opal). And I’d appreciate kindness if this order seems completely wrong as I made these purchases with some research but ultimately am too new to fully know if it actually makes sense for me. But I guess that’s** **epitome of getting into a new hobby. I also am feeling rather conflicted because I had the chance to buy the new Esterbrook Estie x Sakuradragon Pen but I couldn’t pull the trigger due to the price and other threads that mentioned it is severely overpriced and not worth it. I would be lying if I said I’m not still thinking about it now though!
