Im thinking about buying a speedbox for my bosch bike but I'm afraid of the 504 error

So I want to delimit my bike(it's not a smart system) with a speedbox but I've heard that the error504 is very hard to deal with and in some cases it bricks your bike.

Is the error that common ?

Is there a high risk that I will brick my bike?
