How Do You Deal With Being Ghosted?

Questions

Ghosting seems to be one of those unfortunate realities of modern online dating especially with how easy it is to meet people online. You can have what feels like a great conversation, make plans, and then suddenly… nothing. No explanation, no goodbye, just silence.

How do you personally deal with being ghosted?

Do you give the person a little time in case something genuinely came up, send one follow up message even two, or just take the hint and move on? How do you stop yourself from wondering what you did wrong when you never get an explanation? Have you found a healthy way to look at ghosting that makes it hurt a little less. Did it eventually become easier to shrug off then?

Please share your experiences, advice, or maybe even a funny ghosting story if that even exists. Hopefully we can continue to help each other out navigate the weird world of modern dating just a little better.

One strategy I have used in dating in the past and still now platonically that makes ghosting a little easier is simply assuming the best possible situation happened. Instead of sitting there wondering what I did wrong, I tell myself maybe they found someone they genuinely fell in love with, or they are working toward a major goal and simply do not have the time or energy for a new connection right now. Obviously we will never know the real reasons unless they tell us, but choosing the most positive explanation helps me avoid taking it personally. I would rather believe they are out there living a good life than spend my time creating a hundred negative explanations in my head.
