So I have had my car (2018 Toyota Camry XSE) for roughly 3 and 1/2 yrs now, and over the last 2 years I have experienced the glitches shown in the pictures. I can only think of one reason why this could be happening: I live in Arizona, and the extreme heat over the 8 years my car has been here have started to take a toll on it. Not sure if that’s why, but either way, I don’t know how I could fix that.

Anyways, the glitch shown in the first pic is the more common of the two, essentially my maps will populate my approximate location to a different spot multiple times throughout my trip every single time I use maps. Sometimes it populates in a random field on my right (as shown in the photo), sometimes it tells me to take the wrong exit, sometimes it says I’m suddenly going the wrong way. I don’t constantly look at my maps, and although I am aware of this glitch, obviously when I am traveling to a new place and I look down and all of a sudden I am “going the wrong way” or “missing my exit” it stresses me out. Another thing to note is that this glitch is fixed by opening the maps app up on my phone for some reason. But it will continue to happen a few times throughout my trip.

And not shown in a pic bc it wouldn’t make sense, but my maps will also freeze and sometimes I don’t realize it til it’s too late and I miss an exit or turn, which is suuuper fun 🫠.

The glitch shown in the second and third pics happens far less often, maybe once a month, but it is obviously concerning. This one will only go away if I unplug my phone and plug it back in (BTW I only use CarPlay by plugging my phone in, never thru bluetooth, since I like to keep my phone charging while I’m driving.

Also, you may be thinking it could be from my phone or the charging cord, but I doubt it is considering I have gotten a new phone and switched out the phone cord multiple times since I first experienced this problem.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on why these could be happening and what I can do to fix this or if I’m cooked. Thanks! 🙏
