Looking for a realistic view?
Reading online discussions—including on Reddit—can give the impression that Latin Americans broadly dislike the US. However, I know Reddit skews younger, more progressive, and more English-fluent than the general population in most countries, so I'm trying to get a more comprehensive picture.
I’d love to hear from people living in different parts of Latin America on a few specific points:
America as a Country vs. US Citizens as Individuals: Is there a distinction in how people view the US government/foreign policy versus everyday Americans?
Common Stereotypes: What are the most common stereotypes or reputations (both positive and negative) that everyday US citizens have in your country?
Cultural Proximity: Do people in your country view US culture as somewhat familiar/similar, or as fundamentally different?
I’m interested in hearing about real everyday attitudes rather than internet commentary. Thanks for sharing your perspectives!
