Umbilical Cord?

Hello! FTM of a 4 day old newborn. I asked the doctor if I could keep the umbilical cord, so now I have some in a bag.

I've heard about dehydrating it and keeping it for cell support, etc., but haven't scheduled anything or discussed it with the hospital.

Essentially, what do I do with it? Keep it or toss it? I plan to keep his umbilical cord stump, so should I just throw the fleshy one out?
