Richmond District for living in mid-20s?

I'm right now commuting from SJ (staying with family) for a job in SF near Union Square. I found a place in Inner Richmond with one other roommate. I would get my own bathroom/bedroom, in-unit washer, and rent is below $1500/per person.

Since I work near Union Square, it would be about a 30+ min bus ride for my commute, and no bart nearby. Is it worth it to live in Inner Richmond, or wait to find a place closer to my work/center of the city?

I also started looking at places closer to my work (Haight-Ashbury, Mission, Russian Hill, Chinatown), it seems rent gets more expensive, I would more roommates, and less utilities in-unit (I would like to stay under $1600 if possible).

I'm worried about the commute, weather (fog), and finding things to do in Inner Richmond though. Will I'll be missing out on other cool areas/neighborhoods by living farther away from the center? Is Inner Richmond worth it for a year lease, or should I keep searching for a place closer to work in other neighborhoods?

I've been overthinking this a lot, thanks to anyone who can offer advice. :))

Edit: Thanks to everyone who responded! Hopefully I get to see the place IRL next week!

I’m also looking to make new friends in the city, so if you’re looking too message me & we can chat! 🤗
