Postpartum with Lupus Nephritis 27 y/o

Nephritis

I am so blessed to have had my beautiful baby girl 4 weeks ago. I saw my rhemu 2 weeks back and she very bluntly told me to stop breastfeeding by 6 weeks. My initial reaction was to feel upset and almost angry but now after sitting on it for a few weeks I’m so conflicted. Jan of 2025 was the start of a severe flare up that lasted until Oct 2025 when I started ruxience infusions. I spent the entire year in horrible pain and dealing with level 4 pitting and up 30 lbs from water retention with 6 g of protein spilling daily. Then by the grace of God found out we were pregnant Dec 31. So I’ve spent the better part of 18 months not feeling good (I know there are so many of us that are no stranger to that). I’m in a headspace of being desperate to feel good and workout again not only for me but for my baby to be a better and stronger mom. When I’m on my infusions I feel so much better and tend to get my CKD managed and my symptoms managed. I’m conflicted right now and seeking advice maybe on what to do. I struggle with feeling like a “bad mom” and selfish for wanting to stop breastfeeding so I can start an infusion so I can feel better for myself and my baby but another part of me feels like I need to just suck it up and push through to give my daughter what she needs. I’d feel like a failure giving up breastfeeding at 6 weeks as a first time mom.
