When patients take their power back: the illusion that psychiatrists are more powerful than their patient

You as the patient may become frustrated and lose hope when dealing with the system and psychiatrists. It seems they have all the power when they can section you to a hospital or make you take medication. In the moment, they are using their perceived power of you but what you have over them is your truth. Your truth about yourself, what they are doing to you and about them. You have the power to file grievances, document, report and maybe even sue them for the things they are doing or not doing.

Psychiatrists go on their power trips sometimes but should be reminded by their patient that they are only in the position of psychiatrist because of the patient and the patient is funding their salary which is funding their doctor lifestyle and without us there would be no them. Psychiatrist‘s like to shrink us, dumb us down, make us lose hope so we won’t see our power or our potential.

You have the power to expose them or to keep sometjinh private. Instead of a psychiatrist using that as positive PR, they let their ego get to them and nothing is worse than an egotistical doctor. They talk to us like we are stupid, infantalizing us even. But it’s literally your duty as a patient to report on them you would think they would start doing the right thing or want to so they can be known as noble doctor, helpful prestige doctor. One of the worse things is to mess with a patient who knows what they are talking about and are in their power. When patients unite and stand together, that’s where the true power lies.

Always believe in yourself and never let a diagnosis define you.
