EAD expiring soon — I-765 pending since April, expedite still unassigned. What should I do?
Hi, posting on behalf of friends, trying to make their lives a bit less chaotic. This writeup is by them. I will convey all replies/advice to them. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on what I should do next with my EAD situation.
Here’s my timeline:
- October 2025: Filed I-130 (marriage-based).
- April 2026: Filed I-485, I-765, and I-131 concurrently.
- May 2026: Completed biometrics.
- July 28, 2026: Submitted an expedite request for my I-765 due to the potential financial impact of losing my employment authorization.
I also contacted my Congressional representative for assistance, but unfortunately that did not result in any movement.
Since submitting the expedite request, I have not received a Tier 2 callback.
I have called USCIS multiple times, and the most recent information I was given is that my expedite request has not yet been assigned to an officer/team for review.
My current EAD expires in early September 2026, so I am getting very close to the expiration date.
At this point, I’m pretty concerned because I work with clients professionally, and losing my employment authorization would mean I may have to stop working while waiting for the new EAD.
I’ve been calling USCIS frequently to try to get some movement, but I’m not sure what else I can realistically do.
What would you recommend at this point?
Thank you!
