We don't fly much. Not sure if this is normal.

My wife is on the way home to Florida from NY. She's waiting for her flight EWR-SRQ. It was supposed to depart at 8PM, and arrive here at about 11PM. Well, weather messed with those plans, which is understandable.

Their gate was changed twice, 2 fairly long walks. 8PM became 1oPM, then 10:30 PM, the 11PM, the 1:30 AM, then back to 11PM, then 11:30PM. Now departure is scheduled for 12:45AM.

As I said, things happen. But through all this- only once early on (before any gate changes) did anyone get on a mic and offer an explanation. It that normal? Is it too much to ask for some information, and maybe snacks and drinks? She's already been at the airport going on 6 hours.
