Logistics of the fishing sequence (book/movie spoilers)
I first read the book over a year ago and loved it. However, since the movie's depiction of the Adrian fishing scene, I've been trying to properly conceptualize how its described in the book. I made the above diagram in a tired frenzy last night which I THINK is how it's meant to be?
The book states that the Hail Mary is angled 30 degrees from vertical and that Adrian's gravity is about 1.4Gs. It also states that the collector only deflects about 2 degrees from vertical, hence keeping it away from the superheated atmosphere. I did the vector maths on the left (which may be completely incorrect, its been a while since physics 😂)
I am imagining it incorrectly? I've seen plenty of discourse on how the book actually describes it.
