Is it bad that I feel unsafe around my parent

My parents used to beat me a lot and I mean a lot but I can't put enough emphasis on a lot. Back to the story, they would hit me a lot as we know by now but they stopped hitting me as much a year ago and only threatens me now. They also put me through a lot of hard labor now but I don't see why I feel threatened by my parents now.
