Hot take. Jedi are Evil.
No seriously: the Jedi are no better than the Separatists — if anything, they may be worse. Hear me out.
In the original trilogy they come off like these rare paladins of light, freedom, and balance, but by the prequels and The Clone Wars they’re basically just SWAT guys with magic powers and laser swords. Republic-era Jedi are not some pure monk order — they’re lying, threatening, mind-controlling people, bending others’ wills, and acting like it’s fine because they’re the “good guys.”
They serve a corrupt government, lead armies of cloned soldiers bred to fight and die, and act like the whole war is theirs to manage. And don’t get me wrong, I get that they were in the middle of a galactic war — but that’s exactly the point. If they were really the paladins they claim to be, they had countless chances to just cut off the head of the snake and actually stop the whole thing. They captured Gunray and other Separatist leaders multiple times, had them within reach, and still chose to play just and emotionless judges instead of wiping out the people driving the war and ending the suffering of billions.
That’s where the hypocrisy really shows. They talk about peace and justice while letting monsters walk away, while also helping run the war machine that keeps the whole galaxy burning. And yeah, not every Jedi is doing the exact same shit, but the main ones absolutely are. Anakin, Obi-Wan, the whole crew are out here committing war-crime-adjacent nonsense, and the Order just shrugs and covers for it.
The really funny part is that the exact reasons they hate the Separatists — denial of free will, dictatorship, threats, assassinations, war crimes — are basically the same things the Order ends up doing itself. They claim to defend the Republic, but they don’t actually cleanse evil from either side, even when they have the chance. That moral high ground they pretend to have is honestly paper thin..
