People just need to stop lying

To preface this I only just finished season three and I’m anime only, so maybe there’s something I’m missing. I am a pretty stupid person in general. But why in the COTE universe is every little thing such a big deal? If characters would just be honest from the get-go and not be completely fake losers Ayanokoji and others would almost never get their way.

Kei’s huge secret is that she was bullied in the past. Like who cares??? By hiding this from everyone and being fake asf to protect herself she pretty much gave herself to Ayanokoji.

Kikyo’s entire beef with Horikita is that she destroyed her class in the middle school they both went to, but Horikita literally wants nothing to do with anyone at the start of the show and wasn’t even in that class with her. Like no shot she would’ve bothered to tell anyone.

Sakayanagi tries to ruin Ichinose with this huge secret and it’s just that she shoplifted a stupid hair clip a year ago and hasn’t committed a crime since. I would understand if she was a serial shoplifter like the other girl since she’s carrying everyone’s points, but she did it once, suffered for MONTHS because of how guilty she was, and hasn’t done it since.

I get that this show is a huge commentary of humanity as a whole and this is something that happens in real life too, but if the characters would just be honest and not think their classmates will hate them for every small mistake, nobody would have any leverage over them. I also acknowledge that they’re all like 14, but still. Let me know your thoughts
