Infection likelihood?

I had a miscarriage about one week ago. I’ve been grieving and emotions have been all over the place and so have my hormones. I also used tampons the last two days. Today I stopped bleeding and had sex my bf at my request not knowing I shoudnt. I have my follow up today and found out I had retained tissue and needed a d&c that needs to be scheduled. I had asked my doctor if sex was okay she said no nothing should be going up there to reduce the risk of infection. I explained that I had used tampons and had sex earlier she said just refrain from doing those activities. I went down the google rabbit hole and am now deathly afraid that I’ll get an infection and be infertile.
