I am 26 and take care of my three younger siblings full time. Aging from 12-17. I don’t have support from either of my parents, and the one family member who was stable and genuinely cared passed away last year. I handle all financial responsibilities myself… from bills for my apartment, to groceries, school supplies, necessities etc with no help whatsoever. I am completely drowning. I used to be able to travel the world and enjoy it, but the last two years with all the changes and increases to cost of living it’s almost unbearable. I grew up in an abusive and incredibly unstable home, moved out at 16. I’ve been on my own since and for the most part have built a successful and beautiful life for myself. I am single with no children and for years was able to travel and truly enjoy my 20s. I’ve had my siblings for 4 years now and it’s only getting harder. Ive never been late on bills or fell behind in any regard, I take so much pride in that. Today, I’m on the verge of losing everything. I am looking for resources. One of my younger brothers is legally blind and had a health scare that required me to take work leave for two months. when I came back I was fired. I don’t know what to do or how to make the money needed by September and the thought alone is making me so depressed. if anyone can help with resources or options I would greatly appreciate it. I do have a full time position set to start sept 16th, but in the meantime need resources. This is incredibly humiliating and completely outside of my comfort zone, but I would be foolish not to try.
