Do book lice make rhythmic ticking?

Identification

Listen, I see them in my house. I have a lot of books. I wipe down surfaces when I can and run a dehumidifier but I just live in a damp place. I’ve come to accept these little fuckers as my roommates.

From where I see them most often, I sometimes hear the faintest, rhythmic ticking noise, probably close to 300BPM, if that matters. It sounds like a watch in my dresser drawer. I read that a certain species of book louse can be known to make a ticking noise (referred to as ticking spiders), but I can’t find an example of the sound or much discussion of it.

Has anyone else dealt with this? The only alternative answer I can think of is much scarier (deathwatch beetle), but doesn’t quite sound right and wouldn’t quite make sense to be in my walls. I really just want a confirmation it’s being caused by the pest I’m thinking it is, or maybe some other explanation for a sound like that. I feel like I’m going crazy lol. Thanks in advance.
