1L struggling
I‘m on my second week of law school. I feel really lost. I don’t have any family or older friends that have been through it, so went into it very blind. I’m not sure if I’m taking reading notes and lecture notes properly and effectively. How do I know the most important rule from the case? My torts and contracts professors have both made it seem like everything is really up to individual courts, so it feels really hard to pull what rule they want us to know. I also don’t know much about outlines or how to get examples from older students. I don’t know any older students at the law school. Also, I’ve signed up for clubs, but don’t know how many to be involved with. Would really appreciate any 1st-gen law student advice. These first few weeks have made me even question why I thought I was capable of this. Not even because of the material, but from how much speakers/professors/professionals have said what a difficult journey being a lawyer constantly entails
