I'm wondering if there originally were two wolves?

Straight autotranslated from Wikipedia: The Suntak chair was manufactured sometime between 1150 and 1250 and is therefore one of Sweden's oldest preserved pieces of furniture.

The chair is named after the old church of Suntak in Västergötland it was located until 1882 when it was moved to Edåsa church museum  . It has been on display at Västergötland museum in  Skara since 1910. A dendrochronological analysis shows that the wood from which it is made was felled in the 12th century. Researchers have concluded that the eleven pieces of pine used to build the chair were previously used in the church's pew furnishings and were then reused in this chair construction.

It is a sculpted chair with a gable in the shape of an animal head, probably a wolf. It is 120 cm high, 82 cm wide and 41 cm deep. On the upper part of the backrest there is a piece of wood where "Ave Maria Gratia" (Hail, Mary, full of grace) is carved in runes. In the rune data base it has the designation Vg 227. It has probably been a chancel in Suntak's church, a prominent high seat that was reserved for chieftains and church leaders as visiting bishops. It was originally painted in black, white, red, orange and grey, which today can mainly be seen on the animal head.

There is a copy of the chair in Suntak's old church.

Suntakstolen (the Suntak chair), an example of lingering pagan symbolism?
