23M, never dated anyone am i overthinking relationships?
i’m 23m and i’ve never dated anyone. not because i couldn’t interact with women or find anyone attractive I’ve had female friends and felt attracted to people. i just never really felt the need to date.
to me, dating has always seemed like a bonus rather than something i need to be happy. i also see a relationship as more than physical attraction or sex; it involves a significant investment, commitment, and responsibility.
i’m ambitious and value my independence, so i’ve sometimes worried that a serious relationship could influence my decisions or limit my freedom. i’ve often told myself i’ll date once i’m “where i want to be” in life, but i’m starting to realize there may always be another goal to pursue.
lately, i’ve also been thinking about dating for the sake of gaining experience.
i’m still a virgin, and i worry that the woman i eventually date or marry may have much more relationship or sexual experience than i do. i don’t think sex before marriage is wrong, but i’m concerned that being inexperienced could make me feel insecure or uncomfortable.
part of me thinks i should start dating to become more comfortable with relationships and intimacy. at the same time, i don’t want to date solely because i’m afraid of being inexperienced later.
has anyone else felt this way?
have you viewed relationships as a “bonus” rather than something you actively wanted? and is dating partly to gain experience reasonable, or am i overthinking it?
