420 to 620: How two paranoid Redditors accidentally became friends ๐Ÿ˜‚โ˜•

A couple of days ago, I made thisย postย looking for one genuinely interesting woman to get to know.

Unexpectedly, quite a few people reached out, and I'm still talking to people and getting to know them slowly. No rushing, no deciding anything in one conversation. Just people talking and seeing where things go. ๐Ÿ™‚

But something else happened in the middle of all this.

I came across another post on Reddit and ended up messaging a woman.

We started talking.

Then we exchanged a little more about ourselves.

Then LinkedIn.

Then numbers.

And then came the difficult part:

Should we actually meet? ๐Ÿ‘€

Both of us were equally suspicious ๐Ÿ˜‚

Like,ย what if the other person is a cop?ย ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜‚

So before meeting, we did our own little verification process. Photos, surroundings, LinkedIn, basic sanity checks... basically two paranoid Redditors trying to make sure the other one wasn't about to harvest a kidney ๐Ÿฅฒ

Eventually, we met for chai near my place โ˜•.

And then something very unexpected happened.

We just... got along. ๐Ÿ™‚

She's committed and has a boyfriend, so before Reddit writes its own romantic screenplayย no, this isn't a love story and it isn't going to become one.ย ๐Ÿ˜‚

We ended up spending around two hours just sitting, talking, laughing, playing with my pet ๐Ÿพ and yapping about absolutely random things.

No agenda.

No flirting.

No โ€œso what are we?โ€ conversation.

Just two strangers who met through Reddit and somehow ended up becoming friends.

And honestly, I found that pretty wholesome. ๐Ÿฅน

I think Reddit sometimes gets a bad reputation because, yes, there are enough creepy messages, weird intentions and absolutely tragic attempts at human interaction floating around here ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

But I wanted to share this because there are also genuinely good people here.

Sometimes you take a small risk, do your basic verification, meet somewhere safely, and discover that the person behind a random username is just another human you can have a good conversation with.

And for the people I've been talking to after my previous post this is probably the biggest thing I've realised over the last couple of days:

I'm not trying to force every connection into one particular box.

Maybe you find someone you genuinely want to date โค๏ธ

Maybe you make a good friend ๐Ÿค

Maybe you meet once and realise you have completely different vibes ๐Ÿ˜‚

All of those are fine.

I think the point is just to be decent, communicate properly and let people be people.

So yeah.

This is not another dating post.

I'm just putting this out there because I didn't expect Reddit to give me a genuinely good new friend, and somehow I now have a person who tolerates at least some of my yapping ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you're one of those people who has been lurking around here thinking,ย โ€œAre there actually normal people on this app?โ€ย ๐Ÿ‘€

Apparently, yes.

We're just all equally scared that the other person might be a cop. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿšจ
