Hello! I have been having an intermittent issue with the audio working at half volume and the backup camera going out for weeks on end and then coming back on with a loud pop as though someone is finally plugging an aux cord all the way in.

It was brought to Metro Toyota in Kalamazoo, MI for a diagnostic, only for them to tell me that they first thought my brake terminals were loose and that was causing the issue.. to then say that it is because of TSB 0035-16 and that if the update doesn’t fix the known issue, the only fix is to pay $1,400 for a salvage unit or $7,699 for a remanufactured unit.

I’m having a hard time believing that Toyota could make a product that is having issues, release an update to fix it, and when that doesn’t work the only way to have a working stereo and backup camera is thousands of dollars and neither option is a truly new part, remanufactured at best.

Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix or a more reliable shop? I asked him to print out the bulletin and I am seriously doubting that they even did anything. The timelines on their own sheets even say they didn’t really try anything most of the day until the end of the day when I picked it back up.
