Dealer would not sell without warranty or large loan

Discussion

I’d already been to three Lexus dealerships trying to buy a GX 550, and none of the experiences were particularly pleasant. But the dealer I ultimately bought from took it to another level.

They first tried to sell me a $3,000 ceramic coating package, which I declined. I was then essentially told they would not sell me the GX unless I bought an extended warranty. They also limited me to only $15,000 down and like 8brs!!! even though I wanted to put much more down or pay the car off (depending on rate).

I ultimately agreed to the warranty and financing with the intention of canceling the warranty within the allowed 30 day period and prepaying/refinancing the loan.

I had previously found the same warranty for about half the price at another Lexus dealer. My dealer refused to match it, so I moved forward with intemt of canceling.

Now the dealer says they don’t enter warranties into Lexus’s system for 30 days, which is preventing me from canceling it through Lexus corporate directly (lexus said most dealers enter in 1 week)!!!

I’ve filed a complaint with Lexus Customer Care and sent a trackable written cancellation request to the address listed in the contract.

Has anyone dealt with a Lexus/Toyota dealer delaying a warranty entry like this, especially when the cancellation window is also 30 days? Or prohibiting a larger down-payment or full cash buy?

I will never but one again after this experience.
