Do You Think Verso Comes to Love [Blank]?
Obviously, it can't be said that Painted Verso and Maelle have a healthy relationship, whether it's ultimately familial or just as party members and allies. By the end of the game, there's lies, manipulation, disregard for the other's agency, projection, and more coming from one or both of them.
Side note, both fantastic characters, I'm a big fan of both endings.
By the end of the game, Maelle loves Verso as a sister, but in a way that's clear she's projecting the late Verso onto him and not really acknowledging their differences.
Do we think Verso has similar familial feelings by the end of the game?
We know he loves Aline and that he loves his family in the canvas (even if it's complicated with Renoir), but it's harder to tell with Maelle. He does bond with her, teach her how to do things, open up to her, and start to see hope in her vision of bringing back Lumiere. He only chooses to escape Renoir at Lumiere (when he's so close to getting the death he wants) because Maelle needs him, he's partly motivated by concern for her in the final fight, and he seems genuinely upset by how heartbroken she is after he defeats her and ejects her from the Canvas.
Do you think, despite denying that he's Maelle's brother, he comes to see her as a sister (or sister-like figure) towards the end of the game?
