Need practical points to convince my parents about the CB350RS (not just “fun to ride”)
I’m a medical student entering my final year, and I’m planning to buy my first bike. I’ve pretty much made up my mind about the Honda CB350RS because I genuinely love the bike and can see myself keeping it for at least 5–6 years.
My parents aren’t exactly saying no. Their concern is that the CB350RS is relatively expensive compared to alternatives like the Pulsar, Apache, XSR 155 and Hunter 350.
Their question is basically:
“Why do you need to spend this much? A cheaper bike will also take you from college to home. Tell us why the CB350RS is actually worth it for you, and why you NEED it rather than simply WANT it.”
I know they aren’t against spending the money itself. They want me to justify the purchase properly and show that I’m not buying a ₹2L+ bike just for the looks, status or “fun to ride” factor.
I’m also entering final year, so I’m looking at this as a 5–6+ year ownership rather than something I’ll replace in 2–3 years. I want something reliable, comfortable for regular college use, capable of occasional highway/long-distance rides, and something I won’t feel the need to upgrade from quickly.
I’m aware that a Pulsar/Apache/XSR can be more economical and may actually make more sense financially. That’s exactly why I want some objective opinions.
What practical reasons/advantages does the CB350RS have over cheaper alternatives that I can genuinely use to justify the extra money?
Especially interested in:
-Long-term reliability/durability
-Build quality
-Service and maintenance over 5–6 years
-Highway/long-distance capability
-Pillion + luggage capability
-Comfort for daily use
-Safety
-Engine/torque advantages in real-world riding
-Anything else that makes the CB350RS a better long-term ownership proposition
Please don’t just tell me “it’s more fun” or “buy what you like.” My parents won’t consider that a valid reason, and honestly I want to make a rational decision too.
Also, if you think a Pulsar/Apache/XSR/Hunter genuinely makes more sense for my use and the CB350RS isn’t worth the premium, please tell me that as well. I want honest opinions from people who have actually owned/ridden these bikes.
Basically: what would you say to convince a practical Indian parent that the CB350RS is a need/justifiable long-term purchase rather than an expensive want? Please help big brothers🫶🏻
