Almost changed my whole plan based on news that turned out to be wrong

So this happened to me last week — saw a post in a facebook group (bunch of small business owners) about some big supplier thing, everyone was freaking out and adjusting plans based on it. Turns out when i actually dug into it two days later, half the story was already outdated and one part was just flat wrong.

Nobody had corrected it in the group though, people were still acting on it. Made me realize i literally have zero system for checking this stuff, i just see something and either believe it or don’t based on vibes lol

Kind of wild how easy it is to just go along with something everyone else believes, even when it’s wrong
