My relationship ended after our parents found out, and I don't know what really caused it
I never thought I'd be writing about something this personal on Reddit, but I genuinely need some perspective.
I was in a relationship with a girl I really cared about. I was honest with her about myself and my life, and I genuinely believed we understood each other.
Then our relationship was discovered by our parents.
After that, everything changed. The pressure from our families became overwhelming, and eventually we broke up.
I tried to give her some space and stopped messaging her for about a week. But I was still thinking about her constantly. Eventually, I contacted her sister because I didn't know what else to do.
That's when I was told that she believed I had sent a fake picture and that I'd lied about certain things about myself.
The confusing part is that I was actually honest with her. I never intentionally tried to deceive her, so hearing that was really painful.
There was also a significant difference between our families financially. Her family was much better off than mine, and that made me wonder whether that difference also contributed to everything falling apart.
Now I'm left wondering what actually happened.
Was it mainly the pressure from our parents?
Was the difference between our families a factor?
Or was there something I failed to understand about the relationship?
I still care about her, and sometimes I wonder if she'll ever come back into my life. At the same time, I know I can't force someone to return.
If you were in my position, would you try to get closure, move on completely, or leave the door open in case she comes back?
