The Smiths' Spotify is very strange

Since becoming a Smiths fan in 2022, I've always kept an eye on their Spotify profile. And when I say Spotify profile, I don't mean the typical account on the platform with curated playlists; I mean the profile where they upload albums, singles, and so on. You know what I mean.

When I first entered the Smiths universe in 2022, the live performances of each song from "The Queen Is Dead," which were released as part of the deluxe edition of the 1986 album, were available as singles. Months later, they disappeared from the platform, but at least they survive on YouTube.

The compilations released while the band was active (Hatful of Hollow, The World Won't Listen, Louder Than Bombs) were listed as compilation albums. Today, they're listed as studio albums, alongside their classic four LPs.

The recent re-release of "Best... I/II," despite being compilations, was originally released as part of studio albums, not as standalone compilations. This is a common error on Spotify, as other artists and bands have the same mistake in their discographies.

"Hatful of Hollow" is listed as the band's first album because the release date is listed as "January 1, 1984" instead of "November 12, 1984." This is also a common error on Spotify, and other artists and bands have the same mistake, though in some cases it doesn't affect the order of album releases.
