Freelance designer, €36k/yr, no degree - want to move to Italy

How To

I'm 20M from Bangladesh and I've been freelancing as a UI/UX product designer for about 5 years. Looking for real-world experience from people who've actually done this, not blog posts.

My situation:

  • Age 20, single, no dependents
  • ~€3,000/month (~€36k/year) from foreign clients, mostly US and UK tech startups
  • ~5 years professional experience, but no university degree (finished high school 2026)
  • Savings: ~$25k offshore, plus ~$35k stuck in Bangladesh behind capital controls
  • Verifiable track record: Framer Expert, templates on the Framer marketplace, top-rated on Contra, Dribbble, Agreements, dated invoices back to 2020
  • English fine, no European language yet

What I want: A path to EU citizenship while I work as a freelancer. Speed matters, but so does actually being able to get in the door.

What I've figured out so far:

  • Italy DNV: I qualify via the 5-years-experience route, 10 years to citizenship, but VFS Dhaka doesn't list this visa category

My actual questions:

  • Has anyone applied for the Italy DNV at a consulate that doesn't list it? Did they accept the file?
  • Does anyone know a consulate that has approved a DNV for someone without a degree, using the experience route?

Happy to answer questions. Thanks.
