Is moving damage cap back a turn a good idea? Or are the damage problems elsewhere or even nonexistent?
I've seen some people on here asking for damage cap to be moved back a turn, (i.e. 10 damage cap have an extra turn), and I think there's a lot of sense there. Moving it to be in line with Greater Trinket turn just feels like a good decision to make, and I'm as much as the next guy frustrated with taking 15 from the high roller way too early in the lobby.
However, I think there might be some more nuanced consequences to doing that. For one, it really pushes the meta more towards high rolling than away from it. Players having the extra turn means they have a lot more liberty to go for the high roll exponential comp than playing for tempo, and playing for tempo already feels incorrect with how consistently someone in the lobby is going to high roll over the top of you.
I think the problem right now is that there's just too many avenues to hit pieces way too early. People can have gigantic minions in the thousands at ridiculously early turns. The game is built around high rolling obviously, but getting a good hero, broken trinket, broken Dark Gift, etc. etc. there's just so many ways to do something insane that in an 8 player lobby there's bound to be someone hitting it super early. This brings up the secondary problem of turns 1-7 feeling small ball, and then getting cracked for 15's over and over again if you didn't hit as hard as anyone else did. It really feels like sometimes there's nothing you could have done differently, and other games you couldn't mess up that win even if you tried.
So I don't know what the solution is, or even if anything should be changed! There feels like a very very fragile ecosystem in the game at the moment, and that means even though games are feeling like insane peaks and valleys, changing anything slightly could really just make everything and more worse overall. Do you guys think that some change should be implemented damage wise? Should there be some change in philosophy or should the game stay the course its on?
