Any positive experiences with the drug and alcohol team (UK)?

Hey guys, after a few years of steadily worsening addiction, my partner has finally contacted the community drug and alcohol team asking for help.

She’s received a letter today inviting her to an appointment where they will discuss her use and take urine & blood samples with the view of then prescribing some kind of medication.

Obviously this is a pretty scary time for us and we are just looking for any reassurance, positive experiences or explanation of the process please?
