Do the UK and France share a direct "land" border due to the channel tunnel, or is it international waters? How is it policed?

The channel tunnel obviously connects the UK and France under the English Channel. It was built by both nations tunnelling towards each other and meeting in the middle (which itself is an insane feat). How does the border situation work under the sea? Is it functionally the same as a land border or is it under maritime law?
