Anyone tracking progress on long trails across multiple rides?

One bike computer feature I’d been searching for was a good way to stitch together a bunch of smaller rides and compare them against a longer trail/target route to see my progress.

Every ride I do should be compared against that route and the sections I actually rode should be marked as completed. It shouldn’t matter whether I complete the trail in one ride or 20 rides.

Keeping a cumulative total of how much of the target I’ve completed, along with things like total distance, elevation and moving time is crucial. More importantly, I’d want to be able to see the actual sections I’ve covered on a map rather than just getting a percentage.

I also need it to account for rides I recorded previously. In my case, a lot of my older rides were recorded on my Garmin, so being able to import the GPX files would be important.

Lastly, I’d want to know where I should start my next ride. If I stopped halfway through a trail, having the start/end and turnaround locations available on a map would make it much easier to pick up where I left off.

Basically, I’d want the trail to gradually fill in as I ride it, regardless of how many individual rides it takes.

This ended up being the plan I ended up using when I started building this into the iOS bike computer app I’ve been working on. I’d be interested to hear if anyone else has wanted something similar, or if there’s already an app that does all of this well.
