Are companies just using AI to be able to cut costs instead of enabling their people?

General

I'm curious to know when something like Jevon's paradox would kick in into companies where they aren't doing FOMO driven cuts anymore just to pass on more profits to the shareholders because that seems unsustainable and a way to lose employee trust and completely destroy their morale.

I wanted to know if there are companies truly out there that think that AI will be the biggest enabler to solve the tough problems that they weren't even able to attempt in the past and are enabling R&D Teams and more to be able to do so and I'm talking about this in a pure software perspective.

If companies keep cutting head count as a race to the bottom would the company even continue to exist amidst the heavy competition. Curious to know your guys's thoughts
