Bittersweet feelings after becoming Shift Lead
I’m officially Shift Lead at my store now, but honestly, it feels bittersweet.
I wanted this position because I had already been doing a lot of the Shift Lead responsibilities without actually having the title or the benefits that come with it. So getting the position feels good because I’m finally being recognized for the work I was already doing, and I feel like I’m taking the best opportunity that was available to me.
At the same time, the “bitter” part is almost everyone I know at the store is leaving. We also have a lot of new hires coming in. The new people are cool, but the store just feels different now.
For those who have been with Best Buy for a while or currently shift leads at your store, is this just something that comes with the job? Would you consider it a good sign, a bad sign, or just part of taking the best opportunity available to you when it comes along?
