Planning Sandakphu Trek in Late December – Weather & Gear Rental Advice Needed

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to do the Sandakphu Trek with TTH in the last week of December, most likely around December 25–30.

I’m mainly wondering about the weather during this period. Is late December a good time to do the trek? I’m hoping to experience snowfall, if I’m lucky. How are the chances of getting fresh snow around this time?

Also, TTH has limited trekking gear available for rent. Since I’ll be starting the trek from Sepi, I’m wondering:

• Can I rent trekking gear in New Jalpaiguri/Siliguri or Sepi?
• Which is a better place to rent gear?
• What would be the approximate rental cost for things like a down jacket, sleeping bag, trekking shoes, trekking poles, backpack, etc.?
• Is it better to arrange everything in Siliguri before heading to Sepi?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has done Sandakphu in late December, especially around Christmas/New Year. Thanks!
